Demanding the Immediate Release of the Results of the Investigation into the Assassination of Women’s activist and Communist Leader (Yanar Mohammed)

Under the slogan “No More Delays, Open and Transparent Investigation into the Murder of Yanar Mohammed!”, a protest was held today, April 24, 2026, in London, UK, in front of the Iraqi Embassy. The protest was attended by several Yanar’s friends and supporters, as well as her comrades in the struggle.
This protest marks the first step in an ongoing campaign of protest initiatives that we will undertake to achieve our demands.
The protest included speeches from several organizations, parties, friends, and advocates of Yanar and her emancipatory cause.
Slogans chanted during the protest included:
– The results of the investigation now!
– Identify Yanar Mohammed’s killers immediately.
– A public trial for Yanar Mohammed’s murderers!
– We will never forget you, Yanar!
– Yanar’s revolution will continue!
– Justice for Yanar Mohammed, is Justice for all the women of Iraq!
The chants also called for justice for the beloved Yanar Mohammed and condemned the Iraqi authorities’ procrastination in pursuing and announcing the results of the investigation into this case. They emphasized the determination to continue the path of emancipation and equality that Yanar had led for nearly a quarter of a century.
A Memorandum of Protest and Demands was submitted on behalf of the protestors at the vigil to the Iraqi Embassy in London in both Arabic and English. In it, they expressed their outrage and deep dissatisfaction with the Iraqi authorities’ inaction in pursuing and announcing the results of the investigation into this case, which has international dimensions, despite the passage of more than seven weeks since this heinous crime, and despite directives issued by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani on the very day of her assassination to conduct an investigation into the murder.
Two participants in the gathering, acting on behalf of the protesters, presented the memorandum to the embassy representative and verbally informed him of its contents. They emphasized the necessity of delivering the protest memorandum and its demands to the relevant authorities in the Iraqi government to follow up on the case and announce its results officially and without further delay. They expressed the protesters’ commitment to continuing to exert pressure both locally and internationally, using all possible civil means, to achieve justice for Yanar and prevent the perpetrators from escaping punishment.
