Today, at this mourning gathering, we express not only our grief and sorrow in honour of Yanar Mohammed and her struggle, but also our anger at her deliberate and premeditated assassination. The killing of this communist activist and defender of women’s rights is not an isolated act within the prevailing structures of power; rather, it is an organized political act directed against the voices and forces of liberation, feminism, and the working class in Iraq. Through her unwavering commitment to communist political and organizational work for women’s rights, Yanar stood firmly against class oppression, patriarchal domination, and systems of social and gender inequality. The global solidarity she inspired reflected that her struggle was not confined to Iraq alone, but resonated across borders in confronting the oppression and marginalization of women. Through the shelters she helped establish, she created refuge for women who had been oppressed, marginalized, and abandoned by a patriarchal society and neglected by the state, leaving their lives and dignity under constant threat. Both her assassination and the silence of the authorities and media expose a stark truth: those like Yanar, who created spaces of protection for women, were themselves left without protection. This reveals the reality that activists, women’s rights defenders, and communists who strive to protect others remain unprotected.
Therefore, we, as Socialist Alternative, affirm that our participation in this mourning is not only to express our grief, but also to voice our revolutionary anger against the ruling powers, the dominant class, and the conditions and discourse that legitimize such violence and political assassinations. Yanar’s legacy was not only one of courage, but of resistance—and it calls upon us to continue the class struggle she so steadfastly advanced. In closing, we extend our deepest condolences and solidarity to her family, loved ones, and comrades.

ئەمڕۆ، لەم بۆنەی ماتەمەدا، تەنیا هاوخەمی و پەژارەی خۆمان لەپێناو بەرزڕاگرتنی كەسایەتیی یەنار محمد و خەباتەكەی دەرنابڕین، بەڵكو توڕەیی خۆشمان دژ بە كوشتنە پلان بۆ داڕێژراوەكەشی دەردەبڕین. تیرۆركردنی ئەم خەباتكارە كۆمۆنیست و داكۆكیكارەی مافی ژنان كردەیەكی دابڕاو نییە لە هەلومەرجی باوی دەسەڵات، بەڵكو كردەیەكی ڕێكخراوی سیاسی بوو دژ بە دەنگ و هێزە ئازادیخواز و فێمینیستی و كرێكارییەكان لە عێراقدا. یەنار، بە خۆتەرخانكردنی بۆ كاری سیاسیی كۆمۆنیستی و ڕێكخراوەیی لەپێناو مافەكانی ژناندا، دژ بە ستەمی چینایەتی و ستەمی كۆمەڵگای پیاوسالاری، سیستەمی نایەكسانی چینایەتی و جێندەری وەستایەوە. ئەو هاوپشتییەشی كە لە ئاستی جیهانییدا بۆی دروستبوو ڕەنگدەرەوەی ئەوە بوو كە ئەو تەنیا لە ئاستی عێراقدا كاری لەسەر چەوساندنەوە و بێمافكردنی ژنانی عێراق نەدەكرد. ئەو لە ڕێگەی شێڵتەرەكانەوە پەناگەی بۆ ئەو ژنە ستمەلێكراو و پەراوێزخراوانە دەكردەوە كە لەلایەن كۆمەڵگای نایەكسانی پیاوسالار و دەوڵەت و حكومەتەوە پشتگوێخرابوون و ژیان و كەسایەتییان لەبەردەم مەترسییدا بووە. هەم تیرۆركردنەكەی یەنار و هەمیش بێدەنگییەكەی دەسەڵات و میدیا پێماندەڵێت كە دەنگ و كەسایەتیی هاوشێوەی یەنار كە پەناگەی پاراستنی ژنان و مافەكانیان بوون، خۆیان هیچ پەناگە و پاراستنێكیان نەبوو لەلایەن دەسەڵاتەوە كە ئەمە دەرخەری ئەو ڕاستییەیە چالاكوانان و خەباتكارانی ژنان و كۆمۆنیست كە هەوڵی پاراستنی ئەوانیدی دەدەن، خۆیان پارێزراو نین.
بۆیە ئێمە وەك ئەڵتەرناتیڤی سۆسیالیستی پێداگریی لەوە دەكەینەوە كە بەشداریمان لەم ماتەمەدا تەنیا بۆ دەربڕینی هاوخەمیی نییە بەڵكو دەربڕینی توڕەیی شۆڕشگێڕانەشمانە دژ بە دەسەڵات، چینی باڵادەست، و ئەو هەلومەرج و گوتارەی ڕەوایەتی بە توندوتیژی و تیرۆری لەم شێوەیە دەدات. نەریتە خەباتكارانەكەی یەنار تەنیا نواندنی ئازایەتیی نەبوو، بەڵكو بەرەنگاریش بوو، كە هاوكاتیش داوامان لێدەكات بەردەوامیی بە خەباتە چینایەتییەكەی بدەین. لە کۆتاییشدا، خۆمان بە هاوخەمی بنەماڵە و کەسوکار و هاوڕێیانی ئەزانین.
